What I’m watching…

October 24, 2011

How to Make it in America – New York City, the fashion industry and this season, a cameo by Pharrell, what more could a girl ask for? Seriously. I’m half way into season two and with only eight 20 minute episodes per season, I am savouring every bite.

The Yellow Sea - Some of you may already be aware of my obsession with South Korean cinema – there’s something about these movies that, even amidst the violence , is so visually beautiful and equally poignant.

Na Hong-jin’s second film after The ChaserThe Yellow Sea is set between Yanbian, a little known area on the Chinese-Russian-Korean border, and Seoul City; where a murder hit goes horribly wrong.

I loved the story and Na Hong-jin’s chase sequences are perfection, yet I couldn’t help but feeling slightly on disoriented towards the end due to the fast editing and breathless action packed sequences – though I have a feeling that, as the story was depicts a ‘good’ man spiraling uncontrollably and irrevocably  into a violent underworld, that was the point.
