Korea, I love you

July 21, 2010

I am totally in love with Korean cinema. I saw Memories of a Murder this weekend and last week I finally watched Thirst, by acclaimed director Park-Chan Wook, which I have written about before. Both brilliant in their own way. It makes me want to hop on a plane to Seoul right now, I need to go to the source of this unique creative energy, to find out if this intriguing, seductive Korea of my imagination exists in real life. Or just to go and immerse myself in a culture that brings forth the cinema that I have so come to love.
